Response Strategy: Boom was deployed as both a deflection and collection strategy. It was first anchored to the shore at the access point located at the end of the unpaved road immediately south of Native American Shellfish Company (3622 Lummi Shore Rd.) and was then set at
Feet/Type of Boom: 300 feet of Elastec/American Marine Special Simplex Boom with 8” float diameter, 12” skirt, 22 oz/ sq.yd PVC fabric, and universal connectors.
Strategy Implementation: The boom trailer was backed-up to the beach at the access point at the end of the unpaved road immediately south of Native American Shellfish Company (3622 Lummi Shore Rd.). The two Lummi Nation boats were launched at the Native American Shellfish Company

Resources Requiring Protection: This GRP is intended to prevent oil moving downstream from entering Bellingham Bay.
Comments: Despite relatively low river discharge (1,350 ft³/s), the river current was stronger than could be maintained by the boom and entrainment of water (and oil in the event of a spill) under the boom was evident.
